Our friendly concierge at our on-site tour desk offers services ranging from providing general information about Belize and the island to reserving your seats at local restaurants. Our staff will be happy to recommend tours and activities both on the island and the mainland-anything from fishing trips, snorkelling excursions, trips to Mayan ruins, cave explorations, or a massage on the beach. The front desk and tour desk are available from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
If you would like your villa to be stocked in advance of your arrival with basic grocery items or your favorite snacks and beverages, visit www.matagrandegrocery.com
and submit your order. As prices for food and beverages are significantly higher on the island than in the U.S., you may consider picking up some items at the duty-free stores at the international airport in Belize City before departing for the island.
Golf carts are the preferred means of transportation on the island and rentals may be arranged by our helpful concierge. Both 4- and 6-seater golf carts are available for rent, with rates varying by season. Local water taxis make multiple trips per day up and down the length of the island and conveniently stop at our pier to pick up and drop off guests. Bicycle rentals are also available in town.
Belize is truly blessed with diverse natural beauty, a rich cultural heritage, and friendly people. The tranquil Caribbean beckons you to dive in; the gentle breeze whispers to you to relax and enjoy a scenic sunset cruise. Choose from a wealth of activities: deep sea fishing, swimming with sharks, scuba diving at the internationally renowned Blue Hole, cave tubing through mysterious Mayan caves, scaling ancient Mayan temples, or zip lining through a lush tropical rainforest.
Or simply enjoy the privacy and tranquility of the resort, playing poolside chess or beach volleyball. Take to the water with our complimentary kayaks and paddle boards. Relax and unwind in hammocks beneath swaying palms, cool off in our beautifully designed infinity edge pool, or take a refreshing dip in the crystalline Caribbean.
Ambergris Caye offers a variety of excellent dining, from local mom-and-pop establishments serving authentic Mayan food to elegant oceanfront restaurants featuring fresh seafood and international cuisine. Try some traditional fire-heart food, a Mayan buffet, or experience international cuisine prepared with a Belizean touch. There is something for everyone. Dinner is served in Belize from 6:00 p.m. Check with our concierge for recommendations and reservations.
La Beliza’s private location, stunning views, and white sand beach make it an idyllic location for your dream wedding and romantic honeymoon. Our helpful and experienced staff is sure to make that once-in-a-lifetime moment a truly unforgettable one.
Our property is staffed 24 hours per day, including a nightly security guard.
How do I get to La Beliza?
A 15-minute local flight from the Belize City International Airport (on the mainland) to San Pedro town on Ambergris Caye is the easiest way to get to our island. Flights depart Belize City hourly, with rates varying by season. Transportation from the San Pedro airstrip to La Beliza is by means of taxi.
Our concierge will book your local flight from Belize City to San Pedro and will coordinate transportation from the San Pedro airport to La Beliza.
Do I need to exchange USD for local currency?
Belize's currency is Belize Dollars (BZD). However, US dollars are accepted everywhere at a rate of 2 BZD for 1 USD provided the bills have no damage, tears, or writing.
Should I pay with cash or credit card?
Small businesses and street vendors may only accept cash; some give cash discounts for significant purchases when requested. Most restaurants and gift shops, however, accept credit cards. Visa and MasterCard are commonly accepted; Amex and Discover are accepted by some establishments. Processing fees and international transactions fees may apply and international transactions may be blocked for your safety so checking with your bank is recommended.
Is there anything I should know about traveling with children?
Activities and tours are family oriented and children will enjoy much Belize has to offer.
The U.S. embassy advises that If children are not traveling with both parents, the U.S. birth certificate of each child may be requested by immigration officers along with a notarized letter from the other parent granting permission to travel. Adoption documentation and death certificates may also be requested where applicable. It is advised to check with the U.S. embassy and have all documentation in order prior to leaving the United States.
Pack plenty of environmentally safe sunscreen. Ambergris Caye is a sunshine paradise; however, since Belize is close to the equator, the sun is more intense than most visitors are accustomed to. Also pack insect repellant. Mosquitos are not uncommon on the island, especially after rain.
Attire is very casual. Bring light cotton clothing, sandals, sunglasses, and hats or visors.
Booking well in advance is recommended for holidays to secure the accommodations you desire. Ambergris Caye is the premier dream vacation destination in Belize and the island enjoys many return visitors.
